Hi everybody,

April is nearly done and we are heading May, so it is time for a new calendar page for your desktop.

This time I come back to a model that was used at the Showcase lab during Autodesk University 2008 where I was assisting the attendees. The unique thing is the Model comes from Inventor and was setup with a specific Material for a single face of the model. This is possible with the new Inventor import function for Showcase 2010.

Hi Everyone,
this is a kind of an unusual post, but still important to people that travel a lot like me. I will  tell you in a minute what I mean. 🙂

Here is the Story:
As some of you may know beside my work as Trainer and Consultant for Autodesk producs I am working as Journalist for German CAD-Magazines and online Portals. In case of recaerch for an Article I had to go to Hanover where the HMI Manufacturing Tradeshow takes place every year. By the way I was impressed how any people have bin there and how positive everybody was talking in strange economic situation. Maybe this is a small sign that it will getting better over the next months.

  

Any way… back to my story,

Hanover is 250k from my home so I decided to drive and there was not that much trafficjam that I usually would expect, but you should listen to the right Music. Maybe something chilling, but I choose this one „Let Me Think About It“ Ida Corr vs Fedde Le Grand -and I definitely recommend don’t listen to it on the Motorway! -Because if you like Motorsports (Like I do) it could get you in a problem with the speed-cams! 🙂

No, No, No don’t get my wrong they didn’t get me, but it was close to it. 🙂  
You maybe didn’t know the song, I found a Video of the extended version on YouTube. So, I hope you will enjoy the Video and again don’t listen to the song on the Motorway, could get sirius. 🙂

Hier mal wieder ein interesanter Tipp für die Situation, wenn man mit Zeichnungen von anderen arbeiten muss.

Hallo Zusammen,

wie Sie aus früheren Posts wissen habe ich bei der AU 2008 mal die Zertifizierungsprüfung gemacht um sie zu testen und im Januar habe ich für 5 Zertifizierungs- Voucher von der Autodesk University 2009 verlost und leider war die Verlosung nur für meine Leser aus den USA. Nu,n es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit wann die Anwender-Zertifizierung auch in Deutschland zur Verfügung steht. Ich denke da kommt was nach den Sommerferien, aber das ist nichts Offizielles, -aber halt, im Autodesk Magazin kann auch was dazu. 🙂

Sie werden sich jetzt fragen und was bringt mir das? -Diese Frage wurde auch Teilnehmern der AU2008 gestellt und hier sind die Antworten in einem Video zusammengefasst.

The team of 21st century builders, engineers and historians tasked with recreating Leonardo daVinci’s inventions for the new Discovery Channel series DOING DAVINCI are using Autodesk Inventor 3D design and engineering software to virtually test the renowned inventor’s designs.

With the first of 10 high-definition episodes premiering on Discovery Channel on April 13, DOING DAVINCIputs a modern twist on daVinci classics by taking viewers through the build process to determine whether daVinci’s designs really work. Using materials available only in daVinci’s time, the program team works to reconstruct his inventions–everything from a futuristic armored tank to a towering three-story siege ladder–to determine the viability of each design and whether some ideas are better left in the history books.

„Autodesk Inventor is an awesome program. It is the most intuitive program out there, and it allows us to easily design and perform what-if studies to figure out the best option for daVinci’s designs,“said Valek Sykes, designer, sculptor, special effects expert and one of the team’s builders. „Inventor software gives us the most realistic simulation, so we know that when we design and test it in the computer, that’s it, it’s going to work in the real world. I can’t say enough good things about Inventor. I absolutely love creating with it.“

Als Ingenieur war Leonardo ein Pionier und seiner Zeit weit voraus. Seine Intention war, Maschinen (und Waffen) zur Entlastung des Menschen bei ihrer Arbeit und Kriegsführung zu schaffen, sozusagen: „die Produktivität zu erhöhen“. Im Laufe der Zeit nahmen seine wissenschaftlichen Forschungen und sein durch Studium angeeignetes Wissen über Naturkräfte, die er zum Nutzen der Menschheit einsetzen wollte, immer mehr an Bedeutung zu.

Viele seiner Geräte wurden inzwischen nachgebaut. Beispielsweise wurde seine Skizze „Wunder der Kunst des mechanischen Getriebes“ als Kunstwerk und als Unendlichkeitsmaschine für didaktische Zwecke im Dynamikum realisiert.

Nun hat sich das Produktionsteam von 21st Century Builders die Maschinen von Leonardo Davinci vorgenommen und habe diese in der Dicovery Channel Serie „Doing DAVINCI“ diese Entwürfe real Umgesetzt und in der Planung und Dokumentation mit Inventor gearbeitet. Besonders toll ist, dass hier moderne Projektkommunikation und  Planung bei der Umsetzung  eines Entwurfs aus dem 14ten oder 15ten Jahrhundert genutzt werden.
